January 2011

I’m reading About My Sisters right now.  I’m liking it.  I’ve read Raising Blaze, which is another of Ginsberg’s books.  I remember liking her writing style.  I definitely like the topic of this book a lot; I like the insight into sibling relationships, since I don’t have any.

Oh my God, I really love Night Watch.  It is fantastic.  I’m only about 70 pages in (out of around 450), but unless it goes horribly wrong someplace, I’m going to end up wanting to read the entire series.  This is a slight problem, since my library doesn’t have them.  I have to MeL them, which is a pain in the butt.  Worth it for something like this, though.

It’s about 2:45 am, and I’ve finished Night Watch.  I have no energy for the review right now, though.  I’ve got an unpleasant cold.  I’m hoping for the fortitude to do it after work today.  If I’m going to work today.  Probably.  I’m even debating going to the gym, although that would require a significant number of facial tissues.  We’ll figure it out.

Reading Grass at the moment.  I’m liking it.  I have to get through the intro parts, which, at almost fifty pages, I would think I’m close to.  Exciting!

I’m feeling a lot better.  I got some more reading done yesterday, and I feel like I’m finally rested — the last half of the day I felt much better with just a little coughing.  Few tissues in the last couple of hours, too.  Yay!

Anyway, Grass is really interesting.  There is a main story, and then another main story, and then a couple of side stories, and I can’t wait to see how Tepper puts it all together.  28.5% done and I can’t predict it at all!  That’s refreshing, to say the least.

I didn’t read at all yesterday.  I have no idea what’s going on with my body.  It’s got a lot of coughing, so much so that my stomach muscles feel like I’ve been doing crunches for a couple of days.  Hoping to get some reading done tonight.
